more than anyone else (i'd really like to play Beethoven some techno) i wonder what people like Pierre would make of music today. also i wonder really how much stuff today is directly influenced by what he did. was sampling something that happened regardless of who had the first idea? anyway i don't care, it's stunning. cheers!

Pierre actually did an interview in the 1980's where he pretty much summed up his opinions on contemporary music (he disliked it), and his own work (which he didn't consider music):

Very interesting stuff, to me.

altagon,
You're welcome.

lucky,
Thank you. Glad you get to hear more of Schaeffer.

anonymous at 9:10 AM,
I believe a lot of stuff is directly influenced by Schaeffer, yet there's more that's indirectly influenced by Schaeffer. I wonder how many contemporary musicians (or rather sound-artists) are familiar with Schaeffer's work.

anonymous at 7:23 AM,
Thanks for the link to the interview. I found it very interesting myself. Rather ironic for an experimental and pioneering musician (excuse me I mean to say sound-artist as I suppose he would have considered himself) to be a musical traditionalist at heart.

va ubu,
Thanks for the kind words. Good to know this blog is arousing your curiosity.

Infinite thanks, grey calx, for the Rapidshare links. In Chile, Sendspace don't work.

You uploaded the second edition (1998) of this production. The difference between this and the first edition is remarkable:

"A déplorer cependant sur cette réédition de 1998 en coproduction avec EMF, certaines re-masteurisations, absolument pas nécessaires et enfin la disparition du 4ème CD (présent sur la première édition de 1990) qui présentait quelques documents sonores supplémentaires (dialogues, conférences et séminaires) ainsi que du livret de 127 pages au lieu de 80 sur l'édition de 1998".

Here, the index of the booklet of the first (french) edition: http://lea.mit.edu/isast/spec.projects/schaeffer/title7.html

And the tracklist of the CD 4: http://www.last.fm/music/Pierre+Schaeffer/L%60oeuvre+Musicale+Integrale

If you or somebody else has the CD 4 of the first edition, it would be fabulous that they upload it. Nevertheless the above-mentioned, many thank you. Per years I looked for this CDs.

billeke,
Thanks for letting me know about not receiving Sendspace in your country. I'll keep posting with alt. links.
Hmmm, didn't know there was a fourth CD in the first edition. Thanks for letting me know.

I've looked it up online and there is a volume 4 which obviously wasn't included in this set. Of course, I don't have it. Maybe someone out there has volume 4 and would be willing to share it or point to someone sharing it. Since you've been looking for L'ouevre Musicale for a long time, hope you're enjoying it. It's my pleasure to put it up as this needs to be listened to by more people.
